Presented together with: Círculo Logroñés

Following its official introduction at the end of October 2018, Fundación Escultor Daniel launched its long-term journey with a musical gala. The Foundation aims to conserve and promote the art of sculptor Daniel González, born in Cervera del Río Alhama, and to support artists across various disciplines in La Rioja.

Tenor Antón Armendáriz was accompanied by Germán Barrio (piano) and sisters Patricia and Leticia Muro Francia (violin and cello, respectively) on this occasion.

Berta Bartolomé, the Foundation’s president and Escultor Daniel’s granddaughter, hosted the event together with Armendáriz, who, commenting on the evening’s repertoire, stated, “The time of year and our location led us to select a light-hearted programme that would be easier on the ears than a classic lyric recital of arias and ballads.” Musical selections included classical compositions from Mozart, Dvorak, Elgar and Bellini in addition to tangos by Gardel, pieces from the “Out of Africa” soundtrack and well-known musicals including “The Phantom of the Opera.”
